It will address community concerns about air pollution from existing mines in the region and their possible expansion, with speakers from NSW EPA, the University of Sydney and Doctors for the Environment Australia.
“There is overwhelming public demand for a reliable regional air pollution monitoring scheme like the one the EPA operates in the Upper Hunter,” said Leard Forest Research Node volunteer Anna Christie said.
“A clear picture of the existing regional dust problems is needed before any new mines, such as the Vickery extension, are considered.”
The forum will take place at 6pm on Thursday, March 30, at Boggabri Public School.
