The garden of “Myola” belonging to Geralyn and Roger Flower is situated high on the top of the range just a few kilometres from the Black Mountain village.
The large elegant garden nestles into its site, surrounded by basalt stone walls which overflow with a mixture of exotic and native plantings, all in harmony with each other. Mature crabapples, hebes, pittosporum, maples, and cordylines feature in the raised rock beds, and are underplanted with masses of perennials and groundcovers and there is soft colour everywhere.
A ha ha allows stunning views of the surrounding countryside.
Geralyn’s love of trees is reflected in the array of silver birch, tulip trees and other deciduous trees now in their Autumn finery.
Other features include a long reflecting pool, a Japanese garden, a cupola, a thriving vegetable garden and even the tennis court surrounds have been planted so that the tennis court merges into the landscape rather than standing out as tennis court tend to do.
Roger and Geralyn are both art lovers and have collected many striking sculptures which feature throughout the garden.
These will be joined on the weekend by many other sculptures, watercolours, pottery and other forms of art with the difference that these will all be for sale.
There will also be a great selection of plants from the nearby Black Mountain nursery, and Maddison Jayne textile designs will have an array of colourful silk screen printed products available for sale.
There will also be an Autumn Harvest stall, a second hand jewellery stall, a raffle , plus Devonsire Teas and lunches.
The garden will be open from 10am until 4.30pm each day.
Gardens entry is $10 per adult (Friends of NERAM $8), under 18s free.
This will be a wonderful outing for all the family with lots of stalls and food and the garden opening at the height of the New England autumn.
