Tamworth livestock agents are predicting a yarding of 4000 cattle at the sale on on Friday, April 7.
While the seasonal conditions have been very similar to this time last year – where storms were passing around and water and feed were getting low in many parts of the district – Tamworth Livestock Selling Agents Association (TLSAA) president, Patrick Purtle, said it’s unlikely to impact on numbers.
“The latest change in the weather has certainly given people a few more options in terms of whether they sell or retain - but I really don’t think we’ll see any major marketing decision change on the back of the recent rainfall,” he said.
He added that many producers were geared towards this sale, regardless of the season, because of the reputation it has developed over recent years.
Our agents already have some outstanding lines booked in and this sale represents the best of the best with excellent quality calves, many by stud bulls with impressive figures.

“Our agents already have some outstanding lines booked in and this sale represents the best of the best with excellent quality calves, many by stud bulls with impressive figures,” Mr Purtle said.
Numbers are once again being boosted by consignments of cattle from the Gloucester district and tablelands.
Competition will be tough again for the title of best pen.
The Haling family, “Hillside Park”, Woolbrook back will return for the fourth year with their Angus and Angus x Charolais calves by Texas Angus, Pine Creek and Palgrove sires.
Selling starts at 11am, with the presentation of cash and product prizes just before.
TLSAA has also added a second feature weaner sale this year on May 5.
Renowned tablelands weaners will make up the bulk of the offering.
That sale will also be combined with the annual Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service Tag A Calf Sale.
