The Scone trainer hands in his licence at the end of the week ahead of taking up a role with Aquis Farm in Queensland.
TJC vice-president Kim Powell and treasurer Barry Burnett were on hand for the presentation.
“Greg you’ve supported the club when our tracks have been good and bad,” Powell said.
“You could have gone to the provincials with horses, but you’ve always supported our club and other clubs like ours.
“We’ve appreciated it.”
Bennett’s association with the club stretches more than half a century.
“Tamworth is a great area, a great city and this club has developed a great deal since I first came here in 1990,” Bennett said.
“It is fitting my last race day is in Tamworth, I’m leaving racing at a healthy time because country racing has not had as much support as it does now.”
