After yet another impressive win at Armidale on Sunday, Clintal Do will make the return trip from Warwick to New England for the $10,000 Golden Horseshoe on April 2.
The Dawn ofa Newday gelding was backing up from a sensational win at Inverell the start prior when he had a 68m win over his opposition.
“He will draw the back row – but it won’t phase me” stated trainer and reinsman Dayl March of next week’s barrier draw.
“He sprinted today the same as at Inverell – and the last lap was pretty quick.
“At Inverell he went straight to the front but this time he had to come three wide – more horses, more traffic and he was up in class.”
Clintal Do took a three wide trail into the race behind Royal Luck (Lola Weidemann) just over a lap from home before coming wide around the final turn to take the race in impressive style.
“I was happy with his run – he was sharp,” March said.
“That run will do him the world of good.”
The Golden Horseshoe is a feature race for three-year-olds and for Dayl March he is ready – so is the pacer.
“It will be a good race,” was how owner Trevor O’Reilly summed up the forthcoming feature and races the gelding with his wife Louise.
The $10,000 Golden Horseshoe will be one of four features on the Armidale Carnival of Cups card with a $10,000 CO Final, $10,000 Armidale Cup and a $10,000 four-year-old feature.
