The Power revelled in the heavy conditions to topple last year’s grand finalists by 28 points at the SCG.
Following a tight first-half, Port gained the upper hand on the back of a five-goal to two third term.
With prime mover Ollie Wines and captain Travis Boak in game 200 at the forefront, the Power raced away to prevail 17.8 (110) to 12.10 (82) despite four goals from Swans ace Lance Franklin.
Gunnedah Bulldogs product Naismith had an enthralling duel in the ruck against Paddy Ryder, who was playing his first AFL game since 2015.
Naismith continues his illustrate his emergence on the elite scene, finishing with nine possessions (five kicks, four handballs), three marks, five tackles and a game-high 34 hit outs.
The hitout total was a career-best for the 206cm tall, surpassing his previous best of 31 against Carlton in round 18 of last season.
Ryder finished the match with 28 hit outs and 13 possessions.
“We didn’t have a lot of players win their positions, and that includes our experienced players,” Sydney coach John Longmire said.
“Maybe some of the younger kids struggled a little bit.
“But we didn’t have a lot of a winners the whole game really.”
New captain Josh Kennedy, Franklin, key defender Heath Grundy, young gun Zac Jones and ball magnet Luke Parker featured among the best for the Swans.
