Bolts coach John Ireland’s faith in the town’s youngsters is bearing fruit in a 4-0 start to the new season.
Teenage point guard Max Chillingworth is a fine example.
Chillingworth, 18, has been a part of the Bolts senior program for the past three seasons and is handling the high-pressure role with aplomb.
He top-scored with 17 points in Tamworth’s defeat of St George on Saturday night and impressing Ireland.
“Max shot the ball well and was also aggressive to the basket,” Ireland said.
“He’s finding some great consistency with his performances.”
Armidale’s Scott McGann is another making good strides at Waratah League division one level, while Cody Miller provides size to the roster.
Miller’s work on the boards was important for the Bolts against the much-taller Saints outfit.
