It’s the community’s last chance to have a say on Aldi’s $5.9m Scott Rd proposal, with submissions on its development application closing on Tuesday.
The supermarket chain submitted its plan for a second store to Tamworth Regional Council in February.
Aldi purchased the 20,000-square-metre Masters site. However, it will only use about 7000 square metres of the block for the store, which includes a 103-space car park.
Many locals protested the Masters development because of the traffic issues. Aldi’s DA says the new store will add up to 200 cars to the busy thoroughfare, which is only one-third of what Masters was expected to generate.
“Projected peak hour traffic generation of the Aldi development is 110 to 210 vehicles per hour, for weekdays/Saturday, peak hours,” the report stated.
“In contrast, the previously proposed Masters development had weekday/Saturday generation figures of 300 to 660 vehicles per hour.”
