TAMWORTH mothers-to-be now have a new outlet for fashion, with a new local business throwing open its doors this week.
Kristen Owens has opened up Angelbub Maternity Wear in Peel St, and she’s excited about a unique and exciting range of clothing she has on offer.
Mrs Owens is a Tamworth woman, and after 12-years in Brisbane she moved back home with her husband Llewellyn and their four children in tow.
Mrs Owens purchased Angelbub as an online business about two years ago, but after moving back to Tamworth in mid-2016, they noticed a need for maternity clothing in the area.
“We realised that there was nothing else like this near by,” Mrs Owens said. “I think Newcastle was the closest place that had anything. I thought we could do really well with a store here.”
Mrs Owens said after a few setbacks, including a broken elbow, she finally opened the doors to her new dream.
“We had so much interest on our Facebook page and people coming in saying they were dying to have something like this in Tamworth. We bring a lot of international brands in, that people can’t find in normal stores, we also cater for corporate-wear as well as everyday-wear,” she said.
“We also try to cover all stages of pregnancy from early, to nursing; we sell everything from jeans to dresses, swimwear to active wear and underwear. I think when you’re pregnant, your body is going through so many changes and it is important to still know you can be feminine and dress attractively, even though your body is changing.”
Mrs Owens said people can also pick-up their online orders in-store.
“People are excited to see a lot of colour, besides black. There’s a lot of options beside a basic shirt or pants,” she said. “There was a very large amount of births in Tamworth last year, but absolutely no store looking after pregnant women,” she said.
“We’ve had people travelling from Gunnedah, Armidale and places around Tamworth just to come and find some maternity clothes.” Angelbub Maternity Wear will be open from Tuesday to Friday, and on Saturday mornings.
