Just before her ninth birthday in 2008, Ms Lye took the decision to follow her elder sister’s footsteps and shave her long locks for the Leukaemia foundation and on her 18th Birthday she’s about to do it all again.
“Its something so simple to do and it makes such a big difference. Why not do it?” she said.
Surrounded by her family, friends, bosses and workmates, Hannah will have her beautiful, long, curls shaved off by her cousin, Sammie Lye of Hair Affair at the Post Office Hotel at 6.30pm.
“ I’m really looking forward to it. Having short hair again is going to be so different and I’m keen to see how much money I can raise,” she said.
“Its important for the research funds to continue to roll in to help improve outcomes for those diagnosed with blood cancer.
“The first time I was blonde, then my hair came back brunette now my mum is hoping that it will come back red like hers.”
