Bureau of Meteorology data showed waves measuring in at 5.6m off of Port Kembla on Saturday morning, with swell a theme that will continue into the week with dangerous surf conditions predicted for Monday across the Sydney coast.
Back onshore and Sunday is looking to be much drier than days gone by, with a small chance of light showers the only threat to a dry end to the weekend.
The city is looking to reach a top of 26 degrees, up from a minimum 20 - while Sydney's West will edge out to a warmer 28 degrees.
A southwesterly wind will bring with it an element of freshness - a breeze that doesn't bring with it the relative humidity that southeasterly winds have hit the city with recently.
The forecast for the week ahead will please those already sick of the wet that has all but extinguished the memories of heatwaves and sleepless nights.
Rainfall predictions sit in the 0-2mm range for most of the week, which is compared to anywhere between 5-20mm and 25-50mm readings taken over the past few days.
It's a sign of things to come as autumn approaches according to the Bureau of Meteorology Duty Forecaster, who said the worst of said heat is long gone.
"We could get the odd hot or humid day, but a really long run of hot nights and hotter days - that's not going to happen again," he said. "Possibly until next spring and summer at least."
