Trained at Dubbo by Amanda Coffee the four year old will be resuming from a spell in the Narrabri Farm Centre – LR Hall & Sons Engineering Pace.
Amanda along with her sister Sharon travel to all of the Carnival of Cups meetings with their camera taking shots of the day’s action as part of their Coffee Photography enterprise.
The return to training horses for Amanda happened just over twelve months ago and in that time she has built her stables up to three runners.
“I had a licence before about 16 years ago when my eldest son Matt was a toddler. I got tipped out at the trials and I thought I best give it away for a while,” she said.
Now with two sons – Matt and Brendan, who are both away at boarding school in Orange, Amanda is hitting her straps so to speak and will grace the Narrabri track for the first time as a trainer on Sunday.
“We travel doing the photos so it doesn’t worry us towing a horse or two,” she said.
Amanda enjoys watching Matt, who now 17 holds a reinsman’s licence but has to wait on the opportunity when he is back from school. Brendan is also showing all indications of joining in when he is a little older.
With no release from school this weekend for Matt, Dubbo reinsman Michael Carroll will take the drive behind Mister Stewart.
“We have had the horse for his last four starts and he is now having a run back from a spell,” Amanda said.
Mister Stewart had his last start at Dubbo back in September 2016 where he finished third to Rowdys Ace (Matt Rue).
“I enjoy doing it. It gives a purpose to get out of bed and Sharon is my sounding board,” Coffee said.
The $10,200 Santos Carnival of Cups Pace will be the feature of the eight race program with three last start winners in Guts (Nathan Carroll) Rocknroll Annie (Stacey Weidemann) and Hero Bromac (Lola Weidemann) contesting the ten horse field.
First race is set to go at 1.15pm
