Short, claimed silver in the 13 years 100m butterfly and bronze in the 100m backstroke event.
Hayes sealed a silver and bronze medal from her busy campaign at Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre.
Silver arrived after a fine swim in the 11 years 100m breaststroke and bronze following a good run in the 50m breaststroke.
The duo headlined a solid weekend in the capital for Tamworth City, which supplied a record 25 swimmers for the championships.
City’s team performances saw the club finishing in 26th place overall in the pointscore rankings behind victors Ginninderra.
Alligators of Armidale gleaned 79 points to place 52nd.
Narrabri (55th place), Gunnedah (81st) and 360 Scully Park (tie for 84th) rounded out the region’s teams.
