The North West captain was named in the CHS 2nds team to play at the All Schools in March following this week’s State CHS Girls Championships in Maitland.
It was a well-deserved accolade North West manager Ryan Whitton said, with Lennon contributing with the ball predominantly, but also the bat.
“She bowled a lot of maidens throughout the carnival,” Whitton said.
Opening the bowling, she bowled 12 maidens, to go with five wickets, and often set wickets up for the other bowlers with her pressure.
Oxley High young gun Lara Graham was North West’s Blackwell award winner as the player of the carnival after a return of 113 runs and 11 wickets.
She provided the bowling standout performance of the carnival with 5-8 from nine overs in their win over North Coast.
The batting highlight of the week also came in that game with Gunnedah High’s Zoe Fleming scoring a stylish 48.
Graham also made 37 in their big final day win over Sydney North, which saw them finish seventh overall.
Lennon also hit 29 and Narrabri High’s Alyssa Ford 32 as they posted 7-177.
The second highest score of any side for the carnival, they then turned around and restricted their opposition to 8-92.
“It was a suffocating bowling performance. We really restricted them,” Whitton said.
He was really happy with how his young side performed, and excited about their future prospects.
The majority of the side is in Year 8 and 9 and they will only lose Lennon for next years carnival.
“They lost a couple of tight ones that could have made a difference,” he said.
