Sustainable North West’s Amazing Enviro Race is on again next month.
The event is in its fifth year and will be held on Friday, March 10 at Bicentennial Park, with youth from years seven to 12 invited to attend.
The day is a series of physical and mental challenges based on environment and sustainability issues. The kids will complete a short course through Bicentennial Park and surrounds, competing in ten challenges, all while dressed up in “anything green”.
The free event aims to engage the North West region’s high school students, encouragig them to think about what they can do to minimise their impact on the environment in a fun and creative way.
Last year 70 kids from local schools, sporting clubs and youth groups were involved in the event, with this year’s race expected to be even bigger.
“The help and support of Tamworth Regional Council’s Sustainability Unit has been essential in allowing the Committee to put the event on,” Stephanie Cameron, Chair of the Sustainable North West Committee said.
“The course is less than 3 kilometres long, but teams can choose to walk, or run, this distance according to their fitness level.
“It’s really about participation and having a good time, while learning about what can be done to help live sustainably.
Participants can enter via the Sustainable North West website, before registrations close on Monday, March 6.
