The combine scored a thrilling five-run win against Woolomin in Peel Valley’s Bush Cricket B-Division decider on Saturday.
Batting first, DL posted a competitive 6-142.
Andrew McKnight (35) and Kyle Milne (32) did the bulk of the heavy lifting, while cameos from Neil Milne (15), Sally Cooper (15) and Nathan Steinbeck (14) would prove pivotal in the final wash-up.
John Trickett was the pick of the Woolomin bowlers, claiming the figures of 3-10 in four sterling overs.
Wayne Oliver, Rod Sparks and Jacob Maiden also took wickets for Woolomin.
Woolomin’s chase got off to a horror start as Steinbeck produced an inspired opening spell.
Steinbeck’s haul of 3-10 featured the wickets of Mark Walton (1), Trickett (2) and Sparks (0).
But Woolowin produced a rearguard action through Brett and Zeb Douglas.
The father-son duo shared an 80-run stand with Zeb (27) in sparkling touch before falling to Alex Cooper.
Jacob Maiden (14) proved a willing ally for Brett, who was unconquered on 63 when Woolomin was bowled out for 137.
Steinbeck’s early spell was decisive although Stephen Clarke 2-23 and Neil Milne 2-13 also stepped up.
