The accomplished artist will perform a tribute show of songs from music great Roy Orbison at the Tamworth Capitol Theatre on Friday, January 17.

The show will begin at 8pm and Leith promises a range of Oribson favourites and a great night out.

Leith returns to Tamworth after taking home the Golden Guitar for Song of the Year for the song Call Me Crazy that he wrote with Travis Collins.

“The show is my tribute to Roy Orbison,” he said.

“The point of difference with this show is that I’m a fan, I don’t try to be like him or act like him.

“I pay homage to him in my own way, there’ll be all the Roy Orbison classics and a whole bunch of different stories associated with him.”

With Orbison classics on the cards including Pretty Woman, Leith said he’ll also touch on how the songs came about. 

And while putting a show together with these classics might appear to be easy, Leith said it didn’t happen without its challenges.

“The big challenge for me in putting a show together like this is to be true to myself,” he said.

“There are different ways I can approach a tribute show, I could do exactly likely the original which is great, but I plan to to have my own stand, I like to add my own flavour to the songs and it is my own little song challenge.

“I want to deliver a show that not only will everyone really enjoy it but they will walk away feel like I was really doing those songs justice.” 

Leith said his tour came from six tribute concerts last year that had all sold out.

“The response has just been amazing, there were standing ovations,” he said.

“From a performance point of view it was a great show, to see everyone get on their feet it doesn’t get better than that.”
