The St George Continental Cycling Team rider was a fresh face to the field as he was in town to visit his parents, who have recently moved to Tamworth.
Bonello made a number of spirited breakaways during the A-grade contest and still packed too much punch for the field at the finish as he powered home from fellow visitor in Cootamundra’s Marty Ryan.
Points leader Mick Sherwood actually stretched his lead in the series courtesy of a third-place finish.
B-grade saw Dave Smith come back for the first time this year and Fletcher Partlin step up for his first race in this company.
Nick Chisholm won a testing race, with Darren ‘Chuck’ Taylor able to hold out Rob Wright for the runner-up position.
Zane Tapp produced a dashing ride to seal the C-grade competition from Dave Menzies, in his first race of the year.
