Cunningham won the Glen Innes Cup with Hula Girl recently on a day when he also snared an amazing Cup trifecta, as well as two other winners. He then went to Tamworth last Friday and won two more races on the Country Music Cup program before notching up his first Deepwater Cup (as a trainer) on Saturday.
Race caller Greg Kachel has been calling the one-day-a-year meeting for a number of years and was stunned at the reception Cunningham’s Carry Me Gee Gee received.
“It was the largest crowd I’ve ever seen there. They reckon it was about 4000.”
“And when they came into the straight and I called Carry Me Gee Gee coming at the leader I heard the biggest roar I’ve ever heard there. Amazing.”
Dabamirak is one of 16 nominations for Saturday’s $9000 Bingara Cup, a benchmark 65 handicap over 1300m.
