The city’s sister city agreement with Gore, New Zealand, has been ongoing for 25 years, with the respective mayors signing on until 2021.
“Our association with Gore is actually the longest-running sister city association that we have and today we are celebrating 25 years,” mayor Col Murray said.
“That’s a pretty significant community event to have.”
Mayor of Gore District, Tracy Hicks, made the trek to Tamworth to celebrate the milestone and renew the agreement.
“It is something special to me, it’s been a large part of my life,” Cr Hicks said.
“I can recall being a councillor when the first protocol was signed.”
