Jayen Henry Dunn, 18, was refused bail in Armidale Local Court on Monday morning charged with the armed robbery of Freddy’s Liquor Store last Thursday.
According to court documents, Dunn stormed the Queen Elizabeth Dr store between 9.30 and 10.05pm and alleged robbed them of $948 in cash and stole four packets of cigarettes valued at $120 while armed with a knife.
He’s also accused of stealing a bottle of Bundaberg Rum and a bottle of whiskey – both valued at $60 each.
Armidale detectives made a breakthrough in the case and arrested Dunn on Sunday morning.
He’s also been charged with stealing from a taxi driver after an incident in McBean Ave on January 15.
Dunn pleaded guilty to the stealing from the person but was not required to enter a plea to the charge of armed robbery in court on Monday.
Magistrate Michael Holmes ordered Dunn to remain in custody until the case returns to court in February.
