The longest running line dance championships in Australia was founded by Tamworth locals Joe and Kath McManoman some 25 years ago and has been hitting the festival every year since.
This year the four day championships main event, the Open Country Duo, was taken out by Lennox Beach duo Kimberly Vidler and Sharni Kitchen, with event coordinator Cathryn Proudfoot suggesting that the pair finished well in front of their rivals after some top performances as their Lennox Beach Club went on to claim the overall club silverware as well.
“We had over 100 competitors across the four days and a good crowd over the weekend as well,” Mrs Proudfoot said.
While the championships are over the dancing continues with social dancing every night and workshops available through the days for the remainder of the festival.
