Oxley detectives have been investigating the December 23 incident at the Rice Construction Group and AJ Grant Group shopfront off Bridge St, after a projectile pierced the window.
“The initial assessment of the scene at the time suggested it was a projectile that had been fired by a firearm,” Oxley Detective Sergeant Jason Darcy told The Leader.
“Since then it's been analysed by ballistics, they've revised their initial assessment and it appears to have been a rock that has been fired from slingshot or similar weapon.”
Detective Sergeant Darcy said police had doorknocked the nearby shopfronts and the businesses were assisting police.
“We obviously want to find out who is responsible for this reckless act,” he said.
“The force of the projectile to cause such damage, if it hit someone sitting at a desk in that office they would have sustained very serious injuries.
“It was pure luck that people were out working in the field at the time and there was no one in the office.”
Two workers were inside at the time but neither were injured.
“We’re obviously looking for those two males in a white utility that were seen at the traffic lights, we believe someone was stationary at the lights when they have fired the projectile into the building,” Detective Sergeant Darcy said.
“We’re appealing for anyone who noticed any suspicious activity or who may information on who was responsible to come forward.”
