Clintal Do made the long trip to contest the Tamworth HRC Star Maker Heat 2 and came up trumps.
Misty Jane held the lead from the one barrier for a short distance after the mobile extricated from the field before Clintal Do – who commenced from the five barrier – made a three wide run around the field to take up the lead.
March dictated a leisurely pace out in front with quarters of 31.7 sec for the first, 31.3 sec for the second, 30.4 sec for the third and the final quarter in 28.8 sec rounding the 1980 m journey with a mile rate of 2.00.9
“He went alright – he went good,” March said.
“We will need to get a good draw. Bernie Hewitt (I’m With Lexy ) and Michael Formosa (Rocknroll Emma) have some nice ones we will have to beat.
“We will need a lot of luck but he is probably better driven with a sit – and hopefully we do get a draw where he’ll be able to get a sit.”
Clintal Do came away late for a five-metre win from I’m Major Harry (Peter Hedges) and Misty Jane (Lola Weidemann) rounding out the trifecta.
Race favourite Our Uncle Sam from the Chris Frisby stables at Perthville finished fourth.
Clintal Do has had 12 career starts for four wins and five placings and the striking big Dawn Ofa Newday –Shesgotemgood bay gelding will most certainly be having his say in the $15,000 Final on Friday night.
