It comes with the city in the midst of festival; “a time that see’s the population double, but blood donations drop by half,” according to the blood service.
Spokesperson Jemma Falkenmire said donations are needed form people feeling fit and healthy.
The service collects 25,000 litres of a blood a week and needs the supply to be consistent, especially with the increased likelihood of road accidents during the holidays. “Your donation is so important that it is likely to be ordered by hospitals the same week it is collected,” Ms Falkenmire said.
“Losing a donor at the last minute means we do not have enough time to find another, throwing our forward planning into doubt.
“We know there’ll be thousands of potential donors flocking to Tamworth to celebrate Australian country music culture and heritage.” Check your eligibility at donateblood.com.au.
