Our Star Maker insider has told us the judges – Dan Biddle, who manages the McClymonts and Graeme Connnors, Justin Thomson who made the trek from Bundaberg this morning just for the event and David Woodward – were very impressed.

But our intel says they will have their work cut out for them to pick a winner.

This morning’s interviews were an important part of the Star Maker process, offering judges a chance to get to know the stars off stage, their accomplishments in the industry, and their country music aspirations.

The Star Maker champion will have a demanding job, travelling around the country.

The winner will receive a prize package which includes a new Toyota motor vehicle, an unlimited fuel card for 12 months to transport them around the country, plus guaranteed performances at major festivals and events throughout Australia.

The long drives weren’t a problem for Cassidy-Rae Gaiter, through.

“I’m a country girl,” she said.

Meanwhile, Liam Kennedy-Clarke was feeling a little nervous but excited for tonight’s final.

Toyota Star Maker co-ordinator Cheryl Byrnes said she was delighted with the standard of performers applying for Toyota Star Maker 2017. 

“Toyota Star Maker is a fabulous opportunity and it truly is getting harder to judge each year as entrants raise the bar,” Ms Byrnes said. 

Just ask 2016 winner Karin Page, who had a massive year under the Star Maker crown, releasing three singles as part of the grand final prize – and touring the country with a stint supporting the McClymonts.

“It’s actually really exciting,” Karin said when asked how she felt about her reign coming to an end.

“I get to take everything I’ve learnt, all the opportunities and I get to make the most of them. I think it’s going to be a really exciting year for me.”

“It’s a great platform and gives the finalists and the winner a jumpstart in their careers. For the winner, the title also brings exposure to invaluable contacts in the industry and a variety of exciting challenges,” Cheryl said.

“It’s a wonderful thing that Star Maker will now be so much more accessible to a worldwide audience, through live-streaming in the park, and an absolutely free event for the public,” Mr Cramb said.
