Little Chloe Chappel is only three years old and is already fighting acute lymphoblastic leukaemia for the second time, after relapsing in December.
Mum Shelley (nee Clarke) an ex-Tamworth girl, has quit work to be with her 24/7 in Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital in their hometown of Brisbane, while dad Shane spends as much time there as he can around work.
The fundraiser organisers want to help keep the family afloat during their nightmare ordeal.
At 8.30am on Wednesday, personal trainer Sam Barnett will host a $10, 30-minute, high-intensity fitness class in her Knockout Personal Training gym in Bridge St.
She’s invited a range of well-known performers to take part.
She has already had RSVPs from several of the performers, and now she’s throwing open the doors to anyone else who wants to start their day off on the right foot by working out and raising funds.
Miss Barnett said the idea came when regular client Sally-Anne Whitten suggested a class for musicians during the festival.
“The money I’d normally make with it, I thought I’d really like to donate to Chloe and her family … [Their story] just breaks my heart, because I’m a mum as well,” she said.
To book into the fundraising class, call Miss Barnett on 0428 217 943.
Then at 6pm, the Chloe Chappel Benefit Concert will be held at South Tamworth Bowling Club, with entertainment by organisers The Long and Short Of It, Becci Nethery and Adam Harvey.
Becci said it was “going to be a nice vibe”, with great music, raffles and an auction to support a lovely family who were country music fans themselves.
“Chloe is a beautiful little girl and she’s only three – she doesn't deserve to be in the position she’s in, but we can do our best to help her out,” Becci said.
Tickets are $20 from the South Tamworth Bowling Club.
