A council spokesperson said the event may be called off if the weather becomes dangerous for festival-goers, but would otherwise go ahead as planned.
Council has kept campers up to date with weather warnings around the region, via the Tamworth Country Music Festival Facebook page.
The Bureau of Meteorology has updated its earlier warning for severe thunderstorms warning to include parts of the Northern Tablelands and the Mid North Coast, as the rain belt heads North East.
Meanwhile, at Tamworth camp grounds, campers have battened down the hatches and are waiting out the weather.
