The 34-year-old suffered a fractured leg during the incident at the intersection of Cunningham and Maitland Streets about midnight on Monday.
The man was pinned against a brick wall when emergency services arrived.
Officers are investigating reports the incident happened after an alleged altercation between people in the area.
Police are urging anyone who witnessed the crash to contact Barwon police.
