And it's Luke O'Shea's storytelling abilities that have led the country artist to be a finalist in three categories for the 2017 Golden Guitar Awards including Album of the Year for Caught Up In The Dreaming.
"I'm really humbled," O'Shea said. "The heritage category means a lot to me and the Old Man's Shed, I see the affect of that song and how it connects with people in the audience.
"And that next level where it has the chance to connect with a lot more people out there, that's very special to me.
"The fact that we've got a nomination for Album of the year and Male Artist of the year, that's where it blows me away."
It's the start of a new year for O'Shea who described the last one as a tough one, but he's grateful for all the success thrown his way.
"It's been a tough year, it was a change of labels, a change of management and a change of agent, you have to fight pretty hard to retain your joy sometimes," he said.
"And, I've done that and I've come out the other side and I'm feeling very optimistic about the future of the music and writing and the direction that it's heading.
"Thanks for listening, it means a lot and we'll never take it for granted."
You can catch Luke O'Shea at the Tamworth Services Club on Saturday, January 21, at 3pm.
