Locals have been sweltering with the onslaught of January temperatures, as the mercury consistently hits high-30s.
The temperature hit a top of 38 degrees on Wednesday, but kids at South Tamworth Vacation Care tried their best to beat the heat when the local firefighting service made a special visit.
Thursday is expected to hit a high of 39 degrees, while Friday will climb to 40 degrees.
Saturday is forecast for a maximum temperature of 38 degrees, with a chance of showers over the weekend.
The muggy conditions come as the NSW Rural Fire Service warns of an increased risk of grass fires, due to recent vegetation growth and high temperatures this week.
