The super star was in Tamworth on Wednesday to nurture the rising talent at the CMAA Academy of Country Music.
Chambers was among a handful of big names on hand to tutor young musicians, who travelled from all over for the intensive school, which is unique to the Tamworth area and its rich country heritage.
While fans might have missed out on a glimpse of their favourite star on Wednesday, they won’t have to wait for long.
Chambers will be back for the Tamworth Country Music Festival and with special guest Bernard Fanning in tow, they’ll perform at a special concert at Wests’ Leagues Club, on Australia Day.
On Wednesday, Chambers jammed with the up and coming country stars and was excited to see great talent rising through the ranks.
“I love coming up to the Academy every year, it starts off my work again,” she said.
“I love starting my year with a visit to the academy to see the up and coming artists that are getting around in country music, because that is our future.”
While Chambers admitted that the industry is now more versatile than it used to be, she believed country was heading in a good direction with a prosperous future ahead.
“Overall I think it’s just great that young people are interested in country music and wanting to get into it ,” she said.
“I like coming here and being a part of this academy, because I do think it’s important for young people who want to be a part of the country music industry to understand where it comes from.
“I don’t mean that in the way that you need to live on the land or the outback to be able to play country music, but you do have to understand why country music sounds the way that it does.
“It’s a lot about stories – but there’s a way to have a modern sound in country music while still respecting the tradition.”
