TAKING part at the Tamworth Greyhound Racing Club on Saturday was not the plan for Diddy Riot, never mind the fact that Diddy Riot won the opening race.

It was Diddy Riot’s first win for trainer Mark Munn and his son Hayden after the greyhound’s first five results for the Munn duo were fifth, sixth, third, sixth and fifth.
The winning margin was 6.25 lengths while another of Mark Munn’s runners, Billi’s Scout, was the runner-up in the field of eight.
The $2 favourite Knuckle Sandwich came fourth while the second favourite came last, as Diddy Riot’s starting price (SP) was $3.50 while Billi’s Scout’s was $4.
Hayden Munn said Diddy Riot “jumped to the lead” and that “if he can get to the front, he’s right”.
Mark Munn said Diddy Riot “barks a lot” and “he’s a handful to handle”.
Mark Munn went on to say Diddy Riot “pants a lot” and “gets stirred up” while there was also “frothing at the mouth”.
The Munn duo said they intended to give Diddy Riot away to someone at Dubbo on Friday, but that the arrangement fell through.
“I said to Hayden, ‘put him in (Saturday’s race meet at Tamworth) and see what he does’,” Mark Munn said.
Mark Munn noted that Saturday was Diddy Riot’s first race for nearly four weeks, having not trialled or trained since then.
The lengthy gap between races “freshened him up” and made a key difference, Mark Munn said.
Following the unexpected change of events, the Munn duo now plan to keep Diddy Riot a while longer while next on the agenda could be Gunnedah this coming Saturday.
