Michael Formosa is heading to Sundays Tamworth Harness Racing meeting with three runners to “check out” the scene.

The Ellalong based trainer - who has returned from a recent campaign in the Inter Dominion at Gloucester Park with Ultimate Art where he finished second in the Consolation – is regrouping his team in readiness for the forthcoming Tamworth HRC three day carnival.
Formosa has for Sunday’s twilight meeting, also accepted an “outside” drive behind The Last Gindi for Tamworth trainer Tony Missen.
“I don’t know much about the horse so I will be driving for luck,” Formosa said of The Last Gindi.
Magoogan will be the first of Formosa’s runners at the meeting, and will commence from the one barrier in the Nathan’s Farrier Services Pace.
“This is his first run back from a spell so he should go well and he has drawn the one barrier,” he said.
Marka will have a run in the Global Bloodstock Trophy Ladyship Pace, before Bettor Be Noisy starts in the TAB Rewards Pace.
He gelding is resuming from a freshen up “but he has been working well” Formosa said.
With the a big racing Carnival - which will showcase such races as the $25,000 Heats and Final of the Prydes Golden Guitar, the $10,000 Pub Group Gold Nugget, the $15,000 Starmaker for 3YO pacers,and the $12,000 Garrard’s Tamworth City Cup, about to commence at the Tamworth Paceway there will be a lot of interest from trainers near and far.
“I come up to Tamworth every year,” Formosa said.
“I would like to stay a whole week but I will be travelling up to each meeting.”
Formosa had his last major success at Tamworth back in 2014 when he won the Gold Nugget with Ultimate Art who went onto success – from 79 race starts the gelding has recorded 31 wins and 20 placing amassing $494,000 in prizemoney.
“Maurice Mondelo has a couple of horses with me – he is a local from Tamworth – and I will bring his horses Mondo Sports and Somebeachsomewhere for the Carnival– they might go in the Golden Guitar,” Formosa sad.
“For the Starmaker I am looking at bringing Bettor Be Noisy and Rocknroll Emma – she is a nice filly.”
“I will probably bring Sovereign Flight and Starzzzinthenight for the Gold Nugget race.
Sunday’s meeting will commence at 6.07pm with the Jumping Castles For You Pace (1980m).
It will be a “family fun night” with a free jumping castle and face painting, giveaways and mini trots providing plenty of action for the kids as well
