“It would be nice if a local won it,” Osborn said.
Osborn drove the Harmey trained Heroic Outlaw to an all the way win in the first heat last Friday.
“It was a good win – I wasn’t sure if we could find the lead,” Osborn said.
“I reckon we got the first lap pretty easy but I was confident at the 400 metre mark”
Heroic Outlaw commenced from the two barrier and had no problems finding the lead to collect his third win on the trot.
“He won first up at Maitland and then won at Newcastle and now another win at Maitland – he goes pretty good.”
Heroic Outlaw has had ten starts for Harmey which has resulted in six wins.
“The horse did it all himself – he had a solid run,” Osborn said.
Heroic Outlaw had a 5.2 metre win over Angela’s Image (Kylie Barnes), with Tulhurst Ace (Angela Hedges) 4.8 metres away third.
The name Osborn has been synonymous at Maitland Harness Racing Club for many a year with Josh being the grandson of the late Dickie Osborn.
“I have had a few drives in the race over the years but I think both Heroic Outlaw and Captain Rockey are the two best one’s I have driven.”
“It would be a good way to start 2017 but you need a good draw and a lot of luck.”
The 53rd Maitland Inter City will jump at 9.33pm.
