The hall, Coca-Cola Country, is where it all happens – where new talent is discovered and where the biggest stars – like John Williamson, Graeme Connors and Melinda Schneider – pack the place with loyal fans.
Coca-Cola Country HQ also becomes the battle ground for YoungStars, Bands and Bluegrassers who vie for honours in heats throughout the week, until only the finalists remain.
Battle of the YoungStars heats begin at 10am daily from Sunday, January 22 through to Thursday, January 26.
The grand final battle takes place at 10am on Saturday, January 28.
Battle of the Bluegrass heats are held daily from 1.30pm on Sunday, January 22 until Wednesday, January 25, with the grand final battle contested at 11am on Saturday, January 28.
The Coca-Cola Battle of the Bands heats are held daily at 2pm from Sunday, January 22 until Wednesday, January 25.
At high noon on Saturday, January 28, the grand finalists play their hearts out for the $1000 cash prize for the winner, with second and third placegetters also rewarded for their efforts.
Each day at selected times, walk-up artists are given their chance to shine on the town hall stage, where the pioneers of Australian country music have trod the boards.
It was on this very stage that the first Australasian Country Music Awards were held in 1973 – when Joy McKean – the matriarch of Australian country music – was presented with the first Golden Guitar.
Each day an established star graces the stage, in either the morning or the afternoon, in a dedicated “star spot”, so contestants of the various talent quests and competitions can further hone their skills by watching how the professionals do it.
