Tamworth Regional Council will carry out more testing, including an assessment of potential exposure pathways, with the details expected in the coming months.
While council owns the site, it did not conduct the historical activities that caused the contamination.
PFAS has been a prominent issue in Newcastle, with the chemicals leaking from the Williamstown base, contaminating surrounding properties and waterways. PFAS chemicals are commonly used for firefighting.
EPA said it would continue to collaborate with council to sure a scientific and risk-based approach was adopted in investigations and any subsequent clean-up of the site, to protect the environment and the community.
