A FIRE near Quirindi destroyed 26 hectares of land as crews worked to contain the blaze in windy conditions. The fire broke out along Bolah Valley Road on Saturday afternoon as wind gusts reached 32km/h.

Rural Fire Service crews had it contained and under control by 4.50pm.
A low-to-moderate fire danger warning remains in place across the Liverpool Plains, Tamworth, Gunnedah, Gwydir and Liverpool Plains council regions, while the North West region is subject to high-fire danger.
