As the representative of an equine intensive region, Tamworth MP Kevin Anderson wanted to get input from the best in the business to guide the new regulations – such as AELEC manager Mike Rowland.
“I wanted to ensure there were expert eyes and ears looking at this document,” Mr Anderson said.
Mark and Juliana Waugh, whose daughter Sarah died 2009 during a TAFE riding course, were the driving force behind the improved regulations. The code, which comes into effect across the state in February 2017, will be a world first. One of the key points is matching riders with the right horse.
