The former footballing forward who gravitated to training thoroughbreds with great affect more than a decade ago has five runners on the seven-race TAB meeting.
All five have chances given the fact they don’t have to travel.
“That’s always the benefit being at home,” Gavin Groth said.
“One that they are on their home track and two that they have the benefit of that relaxed environment.”
Another benefit is the Riverside surface.
After a couple of Thursday morning storm, which yielded around 20mm, the track will be in the “Soft” range, Gavin said.
“It will be a soft surface and be lovely by Saturday,” he said. Going to be a big day too with a big crowd.”
He starts his raid in the second with Deadliest Catch and I’m Snazee, followed by Leica Boot chasing a maiden, before About Time and Red Hot Dane contest the last two respectively.
