The annual radiation doses for the Airlie Road Bore in Bendemeer and Bore 5 in Moonbi-Kootingal were assessed and found to be “well below the Australian National Health and Medical Research Council Drinking Water Guidelines of 1 mSv/year”.
Dr David Durrheim, Hunter New England Health public health physician, said the results showed levels of radiation for the Airlie Road Bore were recorded at 0.101 mSv/year and 0.076 mSv/year at Bore 5.
“As such, no adverse health effects are expected from historical exposure to these bores,” he said. These results were independently provided by the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation.
