Created by and starring Bruce Arntson, along with Jenny Littleton and Matt Carlton, The Doyle & Debbie Show will run two performances daily in The Star Room, TRECC, during the Festival from January 21-27, 2017.
The Doyle & Debbie Show, featuring all-original songs, is sublime homage and parody, simultaneously idolising and lampooning country music’s tradition of iconic duos and the battle of the sexes that accompany them.
Bruce Arntson and Jenny Littleton wield the vocals of vintage country stars , taking audiences on a freewheeling joyride through a wickedly funny script and score – all delivered with utmost sincerity.
The Star Room will be transformed into a relaxed honky-tonk bar where beer, pizza and lots of laughs will be the order of the day.
Over the past eight years, Doyle and Debbie have developed a cult following in Nashville, many of whom have seen the show over a dozen times—everyone from theatre-going professionals to college students who wouldn't be caught dead in a theatre or a country bar.
Now it’s Australia’s and Tamworth’s chance to experience it – with limited seating, don’t be among those that miss out!
Among the reviews: “90 minutes of goofy perfection – clever, hilarious, wacky and brilliantly performed…” – Chicago Sun-Times.
“…a gloriously tacky send-up of a washed-up country duo.” – The New York Times.
“Brilliant. The last time I laughed anywhere close to this hard was at The Book of Morman. Hilarious – drop-dead funny.” - Chicago Tribune.
“ The Doyle & Debbie Show is like Spinal Tap with a twang, and it manages to tweak and tickle without ever denigrating Country Music.” – The Tennessean.
Back in Australia by popular demand comes the theatrical production Peppa Pig Live! Big Splash at three shows at the Capitol Theatre on December 10.
