A MAN has been charged with drug and property offences after a police raid on a West Tamworth unit.

The 32-year-old was arrested after Oxley police executed a search warrant at the Northview St flat on Tuesday afternoon.
The raid, involving Target Action Group (TAG) police, general duties officers and detectives, stemmed from an investigation into break-ins at businesses across Tamworth.
Several electrical items were seized from the location with officers seen packaging phones into evidence bags as well as a quantity of drugs.
The 32-year-old was questioned by investigators at Tamworth Police Station and was charged on Tuesday night with four counts of possessing a prohibited drug and one count of goods in custody.
He has been granted conditional bail to front Tamworth Local Court in the new year.
One arrested
POLICE have seized suspected stolen goods and drugs after a police raid on a unit in West Tamworth.
About 2pm on Tuesday, Oxley police including the Tamworth Target Action Group (TAG), detectives and general duties officers executed a search warrant at the Northview St flat.
Oxley Acting Inspector Matt O’Hehir told The Leader the raid was connected to an ongoing investigation into break-ins at businesses in town.
“Police have been investigating a number of reports of commercial break-and-enters in the Tamworth area,” he said.
“Police executed a search warrant at a Northview St unit and that was in relation to suspected stolen goods.
“As a result a number of electrical items have been seized for further investigations along with a quantity of illicit drugs.”
During the raid, officers searched one unit, several people outside, as well as vehicle parked out the front.
Following the raid, a 32-year-old man was arrested at the scene.
“A 32-year-old man was arrested and taken to Tamworth Police Station where he is assisting police with their inquiries,” Acting Inspector O’Hehir said.
He was being questioned by police on Tuesday night.
Police said investigations are continuing but further charges would be laid in relation to minor drug detections during the operation.
