A WOMAN remains in hospital with head injuries after she was kicked during a violent robbery in Tamworth.

The 29-year-old was out the front of a King St home in West Tamworth about 9.40pm on Sunday when she was approached by a man and woman.
Police said after an altercation, the pair robbed the woman of her mobile.
“The unknown woman has grabbed the woman’s mobile phone and the pair walked off,” Oxley Inspector Matt French told The Leader.
“The victim chased the woman and a scuffle took place where the man then punched and kicked the victim.”
Police said the pair were last seen running south along King St.
Paramedics treated the injured woman for head injuries at the scene and she was taken to Tamworth hospital where she remained on Monday night in a stable condition.
“The phone has been recovered,” Inspector French said.
“Officers from Oxley local area command attended and are investigating.
“Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone who might have seen a man and a woman walking in the area around the time of the incident.”
The man is described as being of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander appearance and about 183cm tall with long hair.
He was last seen wearing a blue t-shirt.
The woman is described as being of Caucasian appearance with long blonde hair and was last seen wearing a bikini or crop top and shorts.
