Chris Buckman will host a public meeting on Monday night to launch the formation of ‘Tamworth and Regional Community First’.
The group hopes to assist in “delivering an effective and respectful customer service obligation to the council for sporting groups, community groups and business people”.
There is a growing sentiment within the community that there is not a level playing field in the Tamworth region.

Mr Buckman said there had been “noise” registered in the community with issues around consistency and community engagement with council.
“There is a growing sentiment within the community that there is not a level playing field in the Tamworth Region and no effective engagement process between council and the community,” a flyer distributed on social media said.
Mr Buckman said the group would become a “conduit for individuals and groups to get their point through to council”.
“The group will be formed on what the people want to get out of it,” he said. We can help people negotiate the process; the processes of council can be complex.”
A spokeswoman said TRC only found out about the meeting through social media, but would have a representative in attendance.
“Like the rest of the community, Tamworth Regional Council became aware of this meeting through social media,” the spokeswoman said.
“We took a proactive approach and a representative will attend the meeting.”
“Until the meeting has been held and its outcomes are known, it is not possible to comment on how council may be able to work with any group which may be formed,” she said.
“However, council is always willing to work with any community group or individual or discuss any matters of concern.”
