Suncraze was backed into prohibitive odds but then dwelt at the start and was back in the final three and giving the leading bunch around 10 lengths approaching the run.
Meanwhile Dan Roy was having his troubles too, racing unkindly for jockey Darren Jones although he was just off the lead.
Dan Roy corrected himself and surged to a second victory and a possible Country Championship tilt.
“He got balanced properly at the 400m,” Darren Jones told Leon Davies on his return to the winners stall. “He’s still got improvement in him and was just too good.”
Leon Davies has always had high opinion of the son of Dane Shadow, although he wishes he was a bit bigger so he can carry the heavier weights he’s going to be lobbed with as his career continues.
