From a rocky 3-3 early, RSL recovered to amass a massive 5-355 from their 45 overs.
Dowdell was very much the perpetrator of that plundering 198.
“He batted really well,” RSL skipper Zaac Brayshaw said.
“Everything he hit came off.”
Regarded as one of, if not the, most damaging batsmen in the competition, Dowdell hit a litany of his runs via the boundary and even launched a few onto the ground next door.
He was eventually out with around five overs to go, but wasn’t a lone hand in the rescue mission with Andrew Irvine remaining unconquered on 128.
Johnny Lawler was the most successful of the Civeo bowlers with 2-48 from six, Nick Smart (1-43) and Lachie Cameron (1-79) chipping in with the other wickets.
Cameron then joined the centurions.
He was the last man standing as Civeo were bowled out for 185 in the 33rd over and finished unbeaten on 109.
Mark Page was their next best with 36.
Dowdell and Irvine both backed up from their exploits with the bat to figure among the wickets, with Dowdell snaring 2-26, Irvine 2-9 and Hamish Duncan 2-44.
In the other game Tatts inflicted on Crossroads their first loss for the season.
After winning the toss and electing to bat Tatts, after being 2-9 in the third over, were bowled out in the 44th over on a tough deck for 147.
Skipper Jake Packer led the way with 69 at four, and with Jordan Mowle (11) set the innings up with a 61-run fifth wicket partnership.
Brady Jenkins picked up the valuable scalp of Packer on his way to 3-33.
Tom Davison (2-31) and Peter Firth (2-23) were the other multiple wicket-takers.
Crossroads could then only muster 92 in reply.
Chris Sargent topscored with 20 at the top as Michael Cain (3-29), Brock Schwager (3-6), Ryan O’Neil (2-23) and Tom Craig (2-16) wrapped up the points for Tatts.
