Deamer received a decent upper cut to the chin from James Lovegrove, the principal of the syndicate that races her as she hit the line.
“James was standing right beside me and threw hands in the delight in excitement and caught me right under the chin,” Deamer said.
“It hurt but everything’s OK now.”
Kathy O’Hara, riding the mare for the first time, settled her in third position on the back of a hot speed set by Run Cannon Run.
She went on to win by three quarters of a length from the Kris Lees trained top weight Dal Cielo having its first run for the stable since being switched from Murray Baker and second in the Sandown Guineas last November.
Lees got out of the gates first however, when Deneeky snuck home by half a length in the first.
