The students, from Tamworth and Oxley High Schools, have been studying a variety of subjects including animal studies, construction, metals, engineering and hairdressing with a view to exploring vocational education and employment opportunities while at school or post school.
The Links to Learning program is a joint partnership between TAFE New England, Careers Network Inc and high schools which aims to engage students who have been identified as being at-risk of disengaging from education.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for students to trial a career path that they might be considering and gaining employability skills while continuing to study at school.”Nicole Flemming, TAFE New England Business Relationship Consultant said
Students attend the program, at TAFE New England, two days per week to study subjects of their choice.
