The man was working inside the manufacturing business off Marius St about 8pm on Tuesday when he suffered burns to his upper body.
The Leader understands colleagues ran to the nearby Ambulance Station up the road and alerted paramedics who went to the scene.
A spokesperson for Ambulance NSW confirmed paramedics treated a man, believed to be aged in his thirties, for burns to his face and shoulders at the scene.
He was then taken to Tamworth Rural Referral Hospital for further treatment in a stable condition.
Tamworth police were notified of the incident and attended the scene.
An investigation into the circumstances surrounding Tuesday night’s accident is ongoing.
WorkCover was notified and a spokesperson confirmed on Thursday the incident was being investigated.
